Girl, 15, lured, gang-raped in Papua New Guinea

 A 15-YEAR-old girl was tricked and raped several times at 9-Mile, Port Moresbys, North West electorate on Saturday, Acting Metropolitan police Supt Silas Wayagure said.

The girl left her village to visit her boyfriend when the incident occurred, Wayagure said.

The boyfriend took her to 9-Mile and left her at a neighbour’s house. 

A suspect assured her to take her to the police post in the vicinity, he said.

Along the way she was raped three times in different locations by nine suspects, Wayagure said.

The boyfriend is believed to be a suspect because the victim heard his voice, he said. She was rescued by security guards and was later assisted by two policemen and her uncle.

The boyfriend was arrested and charged. The others escaped.

Wayagure urged females to be cautious and take time to know their boyfriends before they went out.

“Many suspects are usually known to the victims in rape cases reported,” he said.

For safety reasons, parents should know the whereabouts of their children, he said.
