Port Moresby (EMTV): A woman is recovering in hospital after her husband slashed her left eye with a bush knife.
Victim Josephine Otowaina says her estranged husband tracked her down on Saturday night in Gerehu in the Nation’s capital and started assaulting her.
Josephine Otowaina is from the Autonomous region of Bougainville. She said she separated from her husband of 18 years, 5 years ago because he wasn’t helping financially and communication became difficult.
She’s been told by her doctor that she may not be able to see again with her left eye.
She said she was in the process of getting a permanent restraining order, but now, with the injuries sustained, the court has fast tracked that for her.
Her husband from Tatana and Koiari, works for a security firm, and she has three children with him. She also supports him by putting up money for the house he lives in.
